Replacing the battery in the iPhone 16 is easier than ever: a slight voltage is now enough to apply to the battery. However, this innovation has not yet reached the Pro models, but that may change next year.
Apple has introduced a new method for replacing the battery in the iPhone 16 that significantly improves the device's repairability. For the first time, the battery can be removed and reconnected using low voltage without the need for complex tools. A special adhesive is used that can be removed using electricity from a USB-C power supply or a 9V battery. However, this innovation has so far only been implemented in standard models of the iPhone 16.
For the Pro models of the iPhone 16, including the Pro Max, this technology is not offered, which raises questions for many users and experts. In the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the battery is still installed in the traditional way, which makes replacing it more complicated. However, in other iPhone 16 models, a metal case is integrated around the battery, which makes the replacement process easier.
New method coming soon also for Pro models?
Well-known leaker Majin Bu expects that Apple will expand this technology to include all four models in the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, including the Pro models. These predictions are based on previous information and leaks that suggest Apple wants to improve ease of repair further.
The iPhone 17 is expected to be launched in the fall of 2025. There is speculation that Apple may also introduce a new iPhone Air that would provide a cheaper alternative in the standard segment. These developments could reflect Apple's efforts to simplify the battery replacement process on all models and reduce repair costs for consumers.
