Euro 2020: Arnautovic apologizes for deviation from North Macedonia match – no UEFA investigation

ÖFB captain David Alaba grabbed Marko Arnautovic’s chin after his goal to make it 3-1 (89) while celebrating the goal and wanted to calm his angry teammate.

Previously, Arnautovic was said to have molested his opponent Izjan Alyosky and used a defamatory term for Albanians.

In an interview with ORF, the ex-Bremen Arnautovic reported that he spoke to Alewski after the match and finally sought a conversation with North Macedonia captain Goran Pandev on Monday. “He’s a good friend of mine and he’s also told me, ‘Forget everything, I know how things are in football and what feelings are,'” Arnautovic said. However, he wanted to say “to all of humanity and to the whole world: sorry!”

He actually apologized to Instagram, “Especially my friends from North Macedonia and Albania. I have friends in almost every country and I support diversity. Everyone who knows me knows that.”

But UEFA said in response to SID’s request that UEFA “did not initiate any investigation into yesterday’s matches”. The North Macedonia Football Federation (FFM) demanded the “severe punishment” for Arnautovic on Monday night on Facebook and said he had sent an official letter to UEFA.

Finally, Arnautovic addressed the phrase “Më falni”, which means “sorry” in Albanian, to his followers. Alyosky is of Albanian descent, and Arnotovic is of Serbian descent. Both countries have been in conflict for decades.
