EVOTEC has initiated an initiative to prepare for viral epidemics.
The open network initiative, Prrotect (Pandemic Preparedness and Rapid Response Technology Platform), wants to use an integrated platform to help prepare for a pandemic, to be able to respond and implement quickly, the Hamburg-based pharmaceutical and biotech group announced.
This is done through the pre-development of a multimodal pipeline with therapeutic candidates against viruses that have been defined as Special Threats by the World Health Organization (WHO). With the help of technologies, the R&D time for new development of highly effective and inactivated antibodies using AI & ML platforms should be reduced. A flexible network of compact production facilities will be established so that therapeutic antibodies can be quickly made available when they are needed.
“The start of Prrotect is a call for all interested network partners to join forces globally so that no generation suffers from the lack of preparedness we have seen in the past two years,” said Werner Lanthaler, CEO of EVOTEC.
