On Saturday, the SPÖ will meet in Wiener Messe for a conference of the Federalist Party, where Pamela Rende Wagner is re-elected as president for the first time. She has to defend 97.8 per cent, which she achieved three years ago in Wales. However, the party leader gave only the 71 percent she achieved in a vote of confidence to the base the previous year.
The number of party committees will be reduced on Saturday, and the party chairwoman will have only six deputies, including Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig, Carinthia Governor Peter Kaiser, National Assembly second chairwoman Doris Boris and newly elected women’s chairwoman Eva Maria Holzleitner. While internal critics such as Lower Austria President Franz Schnabel and former Federal Director Max Lercher have been incorporated into the Presidency and Board of Directors, Burgenland Governor Hans-Peter Doskozel is not running at the party convention.
In terms of content, the focus is on ten major proposals, which call for, among other things, reduced working hours, wealth and inheritance taxes and the elimination of deductions in the health care system. The party congress is attended by 642 delegates. 3G rule and mask requirements apply.
