BERLIN (ots/PRNewswire) – Infotecs GmbH, the world’s leading IT security company from Berlin, is supplying its encryption solution for PLCnext Control from Phoenix Contact. For this purpose, Infotecs virtualizes its encoder via Docker Container directly on the console.
Increasingly, operators of distributed industrial production facilities are integrating machines and systems into their IT infrastructure. This is necessary for the constant control and monitoring of production processes and for recording the corresponding key numbers. The technical prerequisite for this creates the connection of operating systems to IP-based networks. In the industrial sector too, these are becoming a growing target for cyber attacks. Without a proper security solution, distributed production is a huge problem in many cases.
Using PLCnext Technology, Phoenix Contact creates the prerequisites for the safe operation of machines and systems. This is possible, among other things, using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) solution from Infotecs GmbH. The software manufacturer implements this directly on the console and thus implements secure end-to-end encryption. Thus, confidential device data that is transmitted between the connected systems and network in the SCADA control system is protected from unauthorized access. PLCnext technology enables simple integration into existing operational technology infrastructure.
Infotecs’ ViPNet VPN solution, by default via a Docker container, is available for PLCnext Control from Phoenix Contact. Use of ViPNet VPN on these devices protects data transmission within production environments up to the endpoint and thus creates the prerequisites for secure remote access for maintenance on industrial systems and applications ViPNet VPN is optionally available as an on-premises version or as a solution in the cloud,” explains Joseph Waklow, CEO of Infotecs.
The PLCnext Control AXC F 2152 is part of the PLCnext ecosystem from Phoenix Contact. The console combines the durability and security of a classic PLC with the openness and flexibility of the world of smart devices. With PLCnext Technology, Phoenix Contact provides an answer to the challenges of the Internet of Things (IIoT) world and simplifies existing control solutions. With this solution, automation can be rethought, because the boundaries are disappearing and new possibilities for industrial automation are emerging.
The ViPNet client is available on the PLCnext store.
