In the first round of the Sportland NÖ Football Cup we met away with LUV Graz. We accepted the role of favorites and immediately wanted to show that we could do it justice. From the beginning, we pushed the Graz girls into our half and tried to score quickly. Unfortunately, despite a plethora of opportunities, it didn’t work out; Every now and then a defender throws herself into a shot, or we take a step too late or the post gets in the way. After 20 minutes, we were also denied a clear penalty after the goalkeeper collided with Šišić. Graz Women fought with all their might and managed to maintain a 0-0 lead in the first half. After the start of the second half, it was the same picture and it only took two minutes before Sterer put Šišić in the spotlight and scored to make it 1-0. Shortly afterwards, Jedvay hit the crossbar, but on the next move, Sprung sent Sterer into the penalty area and she curled into the far corner to make it 2-0. Things continued like this, as Sprung again played a front pass and Šišić made it 3-0 in the 55th minute. In the 70th minute, Drescher scored from the penalty spot after putting Sterrer into the penalty area. 10 minutes later, Šišić crossed the penalty area to Dabić, who converted the ball from close range to make it 5-0. In the 84th minute, substitute Fox scored after an assist from Sterrer to make the score 6-0. Shortly before the end, Šišić hit the crossbar with a long-range shot and Grünberger headed it from a promising position! Overall, our women performed very well and despite not scoring in the first half, they were not bothered and finished the match with confidence.
