A heat wave of up to 40 degrees is expected in Italy

Italy is facing a heat wave. According to meteorologists, the weather will be particularly hot in parts of the Mediterranean country from Wednesday onwards, with temperatures reaching nearly 40 degrees. On the large islands of Sicily and Sardinia and the Puglia region in the south, the temperature could reach 40 degrees in some areas on Thursday, the official meteorological service of the Italian Air Force predicted. The weather portal ilmeteo.it also assumes higher temperatures.

It could also be very hot in the capital, Rome: the temperature is expected to reach 38 degrees on Thursday. In Campania, with the large city of Naples, temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees in some places. According to meteorologists, Tuscan residents with the cities of Florence, Pisa and Siena, which are very popular with tourists, should also prepare for a temperature of 32 to 36 degrees. It also gets very warm in Emilia-Romagna on the Adriatic coast. On the other hand, the northern regions of Italy are spared from excessively high temperatures.

According to the weather portal ilmeteo.it, the high temperatures in central and southern Italy are due to the African high pressure area called “Minos”, which is heading towards Italy. Hot air is also accompanied by high humidity. There will also be so-called tropical nights. Then the air temperature does not fall below 20 degrees at night. However, the wave will become weaker towards the end of the week. Meteorologists expect strong thunderstorms, especially in the north, and a drop in temperatures.
