For decades, VW’s Golf has been a favorite of the Germans. But a new pioneer marks a turning point.
SP-X/Flensburg. The Tesla Model Y is Germany’s new best-selling car leader. Not only did the battery-powered American SUV climb to pole position in the segment, it also took the top spot as the most popular model among German car customers with 9,846 new vehicles registered. A month ago, VW’s T-Roc was the absolute No. 1 with 6,490 new registrations.
Within the categories, the KBA recorded a further change in the position of large vans, where the VW Touran overtook former leader Mercedes V-Class with 1,437 new registrations.
Overall, (KBA) counted 224,816 new registrations in September, a 14.1 percent increase compared to the same month last year. However, the balance for the current year is negative at minus 7.4 percent and 1.87 million new registrations.
