Lavazza presented its new calendar with a focus on Africa in Vienna’s Museum Quarter. Human rights activist and martyr Waris Diri came to the show and addressed the guests with a powerful message.
Coffee company Lavazza sends viewers on a journey through contemporary African photography with its new 2024 “More Than Us” calendar. During the calendar display in the Oval Hall in the Museum Quarter, guests were able to admire the works here in Austria for the first time. Gregor Beham, Director of Lavazza in Austria and Switzerland, led the evening and invited Susanne Feigen, Managing Director of Lavazza Germany and Regional Director of DACH Poland, to the stage for a discussion in which the artists and themes were introduced. Singer Samira presented a musical number.
“Acting instead of talking”
The Lavazza 2024 Calendar is a collaborative project between African photographers Thandiwe Morio from Kenya, Daniel Obasi from Nigeria, and Art Veribes from South Africa. The location of the artistic project is located in Africa, where the coffee bean is native to the Kaffa region of Ethiopia, as well as various sustainability initiatives supported by the Fondazione Giuseppe e Pericle Lavazza. “Action is the key to making a difference in this world together. Stop talking, let’s do something!”, says model and human rights activist Waris Diri. She was seen on stage in the show and called on people to actively shape the world.
