It is clear that FC Barcelona will have to race with Erling Haaland.
According to well-informed TV channel Cuatro, Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola is said to have reached an agreement with FC Barcelona. Accordingly, the 21-year-old striker will switch to the Catalan side next summer.
However, there is still a major financial hurdle to be overcome in the transfer process, with FC Barcelona suffering from appalling debts of 1.35 billion euros. Despite the financial question marks, the Barcelona president was recently positive about his ability to sign the Norwegian (More about this >>>).
High debts aside, the Catalans recently completed the transfer of Ferran Torres. The 21-year-old Spaniard cost Barcelona 55 million euros – plus performance bonuses of up to 10 million euros.
No real transfer because of Mbappe?
It is said that Haaland’s love for Spain eventually secured Barcelona the contract. The former Salzburg striker is said to have considered a move to Real Madrid, but since the “Royal” is trying so hard to get Kylian Mbappe, Haaland is said to have chosen the “Bulugrana” in the end.
Erling Haaland has been under contract with Borussia Dortmund since January 2020. At that time, BVB transferred €20 million to Red Bull Salzburg for the services of the Norwegian. Haaland scored 76 goals in 75 official matches in the two years he spent in Dortmund.
