Democrats don't want to knock Joe Biden out of the race. “I think he's the only Democrat who can beat Donald Trump,” said Senator Chris Coons.
Prominent members of the US Democratic Party expressed their opposition to the removal of President Joe Biden from the race for the presidential elections in November. Biden appeared weak in a television duel with his supposed rival and former President Donald Trump on Thursday.
“Absolutely not,” Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” when asked about the issue. “There are bad debates going on. I stand with Joe Biden, and our job is to make sure he gets to the finish line in November.” Warnock is one of several Democrats being considered as a potential replacement for Biden.
Biden needs to be in the race for Trump to lose
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries told MSNBC that Biden had suffered a setback. But this is only preparation for the return. Senator Chris Coons of Delaware told ABC that the moment we are living now is a moment of return. “I think he's the only Democrat who can beat Donald Trump,” Coons said. Meanwhile, Congressman Jamie Raskin told MSNBC that there must be honest and serious conversations within the party. Biden will ultimately be the keynote speaker at the party's convention in August, “regardless of whether (Biden) is the nominee or someone else.”
A CBS poll conducted after the duel showed that the number of Democrats who believe Biden should not run for president rose to 46 percent, up from 36 percent in February. (Abba)
