On Tuesday, unidentified perpetrators set fire to a power pole in a field that also supplies the Tesla factory.
After the attack on a power pole, production at the American electric car manufacturer Tesla in Gruenheide, near the German capital Berlin, is likely to remain suspended until the end of next week. The company announced this on Wednesday evening upon request. The newspaper “Bild” previously reported about this. On Tuesday, unidentified perpetrators set fire to a power pole in a field that also supplies the Tesla factory.
Then production in Grünheide stopped. Tens of thousands of residents of the region were also affected by power outages. In a letter of responsibility, the far-left “Vulcan Group” claimed responsibility for the attack. Police described the message as authentic. The group accuses Tesla of imposing “extreme exploitation conditions” and has written about acts of sabotage against Tesla.
Millions in damage to Tesla
As production is forced to stop for a longer period, the damage to Tesla is likely to increase. Recently, the company said the damage amounted to several hundred million euros. But production is still expected to resume next Monday. Now there will be another week of stagnation.
Power grid operator Edis wants to end the Tesla blackouts as soon as possible. The company announced on Wednesday that emergency services are working with top priority on a temporary technical solution to resupply the previously unsupplied industrial and production settlement as well as the logistics center as quickly as possible.
