Museum Manipulation was inspired by David Bowie and devotes an entire afternoon to the exceptional artist. It starts at 2pm at Villa Gugging with the screening of the documentary “Why are we (not) creative?” Directed by Hermann Vaske, it’s where Bowie has his say. In keeping with the theme, from 3-5pm a creative workshop will be used for children and families to try out different materials.
David Bowie visited Maria Gugging in 1994 and used the venue and Gugging’s artists as a source of inspiration for his music. Now a Bowie-inspired “gugging museum” devoting an entire afternoon to the exceptional artist on Saturday, June 24th. It starts at 2pm at Villa Gugging with the screening of the documentary “Why are we (not) creative?” Directed by Hermann Vaske, it’s where Bowie has his say.
In keeping with the theme, experiments with different materials will be conducted from 3 to 5 pm in parallel in a creative workshop for children and families.
Music critic and Bowie expert Richard Maréchal, with curator and artistic director Nina Ansperger, will guide you through the current special exhibition “Inspirational gugging.! From Bowie to Red”. They tell of Bowie’s interest in Gugging’s artists, his visits to Maria Gugging and the House of Artists, and the album 1. The Outsiders”.
At 5 p.m., the theory ends and there is time to dance: finally, musician and journalist Christian Fuchs will DJ at Maria Gogging’s Art Brut Center. His DJ set consists of music by David Bowie, inspired by Bowie, his friends and his musical environment.
