The 25th round of the Landesliga-Ost brought the duel with Rohrbach-Berg for our second team. In front of nearly 100 spectators, the physicality and pace of the match was expected from the start, with chances on both sides. Maximilian Traxler’s free-kick fell in the early stages onto the bar – the first exclamation point from Linz, who then had a shocking moment only to digest it a little later. Dokic sprained his knee and had to be substituted early on – but everything can be obtained a little later.
An open exchange of blows developed, with chances for both sides, and in the 18th minute the visitors took a 1-0 lead thanks to a justified penalty kick converted by Brajkovic. This hit slightly changed the course of the game. Both teams continued to seek salvation on offense – a classy league game through and through!
On the next track of the match, Mülvertler twice failed the crossbar – but our team did it better. A great long-range strike from Milojevic in the 73rd minute gave us an equalizer and renewed courage. Then the blue and whites accelerated further and were instantly rewarded. Just five minutes later, Sjekirica made it 2-1 after a corner kick – the match turned.
Rohrbach-Berg threw everything forward and missed very good chances – there was nothing to sugar cap and in one situation or another we were very lucky – luck, which we have rarely been equipped with all season so far.
The decision then came in injury time when Kvesa completed a counter-attack beautifully to make it 3:1.
Three very important points in the battle for relegation, but no one was really happy that afternoon. Dennis Agyapong’s serious injury (patellar tendon rupture) overshadowed many things. Denise is happy!!!
