Day two of the Ice Hockey World Cup, the second game for the German national ice hockey team. After an opening win against Slovakia, they couldn't get anything going against the USA this time around.

In the opening game, Germany beat Slovakia 6–4, but went scoreless against the United States in the second game. Instead, it suffered a defeat with a score of 1:6.

The Americans were clearly the better team from start to finish and that was reflected in the final result. Tkachuk (13th) and Kesselring (18th) led their team to victory early on. In the middle third, Gaudreau made it 3-0 (33') before Ehlis scored the only German goal of the day (35'). Three seconds before the second break, Hughes made it 4-1 (40th). In the final third, Zagras (51st) and Eisemont (53rd) increased the result.
