When it comes to racing simulations, Assetto Corsa Competizione is still at the top end. However, current generation racers have so far looked the other way when it comes to cross-play. Now the developers are offering an update that brings with it the much desired functionality.
Development studio Kunos Simulazioni published the racing simulator Assetto Corsa Competizione on PC in 2019. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 ports finally followed in 2020, and in 2022, race drivers are also allowed to drive to the starting line on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

One function that was missing until now: cross-play. After a lot of pleas from the community, the developers finally listened and released the corresponding update. But before you start chanting, there is one warning.
Because you won’t get the patch unless you make your rounds on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series In other words: Only the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony are allowed to play Assetto Corsa Competizione with each other via cross-play.
However, if you’re on PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you’ll still be linked to players on the respective platform. Perhaps the reason for this can be found in Kunos Simulazioni’s Nextgen FAQ.
Here the developers explained that Assetto Corsa Competizione runs at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series Accordingly, gamers on old consoles have a significant disadvantage. Higher frame rates are possible on PC. It’s a shame, but understandable.
