At least 13 people were killed in a fire in a large bar on Thailand’s east coast. About 40 people were injured, some seriously, in the night-time fire in Sattahip on the Gulf of Thailand, the Bangkok Post reported, citing rescue teams from the local Sawang Rujana Tamasatan Foundation.
According to current information, all the victims – nine men and four women – are Thais, police said. Videos on social media show visitors trying to escape the fire at Mountain B Pub with only one door open. People are running away and screaming while the entire building is on fire in the background. The entire interior of the restaurant was destroyed, as evidenced by photos taken after the firefighting work.
According to Khaosod newspaper, many guests were trapped in the building when the fire broke out because the rear exit was closed. Additionally, the interior of the pub is said to have been lined with highly flammable foam panels for sound insulation.
