U.S. officials have lifted the entry ban on European air travelers, which has been in effect since March 14, 2020, and fully vaccinated travelers from the EU can fly back to the United States from November 1. Austrian Airlines (AUA) will provide 16 weekly connections from Vienna to the United States with two airports in New York, Washington and Chicago.
“We welcome the decision of the US government,” AUA Sales Director Michael Trestle said in a statement on Tuesday. “For more than 20 months, opening up to fully vaccinated EU travelers has been an important step in restoring global independence.”
“At the same time, raising the entry stop gives a significant boost to aviation in Atlantic aviation, thus giving the possibility of a return to concession in the pre-crisis situation,” Drestle said. The AUA will continue to assess demand and expand the offer if necessary.
