Automotive Review July + August 2023

Dear readers!

The future tense, as suggested by the current cover line, is a private tense. It’s tiring because you’re kind of looking back from some point in the future to something that will be in the past from that perspective but hasn’t happened yet. It will be one like the other: the McLaren Artura, which, as a hybrid car, best represents the super sports car’s possible form, taking none of the burden that one would take from the conceptual form. On the other hand: Dacia. The underdog who sets out to prove that the zeitgeist can be presented simply, intelligently, and affordably and that one made the right turn at the right time. Both developments are ongoing, and it remains to be seen what implications they will have. The future I apply to read: it will happen. Dacia from page 34, McLaren from page 48. The last Alpine excursion from 1973 is clearly a throwback to the past. However, it is also accompanied by a network of temporal levels, because Herbert Volcker reminded me back in February that this end will soon be the 50th anniversary, so we must put the release in time in time so that nothing goes wrong. So it was a long anticipation (future) of something that was a while ago (past), so in a way also future tense after reading the great story. It is titled “Ein Knall in der Klassik” and on page 108 represents the wonderful finale to our well-read summer edition. An absolute recommended read!
