Fine wines from Scheit in Karnabrunn were awarded gold at the Berlin Wine Cup.
Korneuburg region | Carnabrunn (PA). Since sponsoring the OIV in 2004, the tasting of the capital has grown to be Germany’s most important and largest international wine competition. With 40 participating countries and over 14,000 wine samples presented, the Berlin Wine Cup is one of the most important awards in the world.
“We are particularly pleased and of course see that the award is a validation of our efforts,” said Daniela and Bernard Chet of the winery of the same name. After all, in order to preserve the varietal character and quality, the grapes had to be harvested and cold-processed, which was not easy due to the warm autumn. “That’s why we always harvest our grapes at night to ensure the maximum fruit experience,” the winemaker reveals.
There was gold for the new mixed group 2022, Zweigelt – Grande Reserve 2019, Pinot Noir – Grande Reserve 2019 and Riesling Vino Granito – Grande Reserve 2018, which were stored and matured in natural stone barrels made of granite for two years.
