Bayern Munich has appointed former Borussia player Nils Schmadtke as its new head of scouting.
The 35-year-old succeeds Marcus Bielawa, who will leave the club after two years and agreed with the Munich team to end their cooperation.
Schmadtke began his scouting career at FC Cologne in 2016 and then moved to Mönchengladbach to work with current Bayern sporting director Max Eberl. In 2020, Schmadtke took over the management of the scouting department at Wolfsburg, where his father was managing director, before returning to “Fohlen” as sporting director after two seasons. He left his position there in July.
Bridge to Bavaria Campus
“We are delighted that Nils Schmadtke has won the Bayern Munich jersey,” says sporting director Christoph Freund. “Niels has already gained a lot of experience in professional football and brings with him a great deal of scouting experience. We want to identify potential players for FC Bayern as soon as possible, and Niels will play an important role.” Here Nils must also ensure intensive integration with our team. “Be responsible for the FC Bayern Munich campus,” he adds.
