According to a report by The Times, Inter Miami are confident of signing superstar Lionel Messi. The British newspaper wrote that club officials around co-owner David Beckham believe the 35-year-old Argentine will sign with the Major League Soccer club after the World Cup in Qatar. The Times did not cite a source.
There was a presumption that Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires after the current season. He had already made it clear that moving to America might appeal to him too.
Will Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas be teammates soon?
At Inter Miami, he is said to play alongside Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez, who are set to be lured to Florida. Messi is very good friends with the 35-year-old Uruguayan Suarez. Fabregas, Suarez and Messi once played together at FC Barcelona.
Messi had to leave the Catalans from his hometown of Rosario in Argentina in 2000 at the age of 13 in the summer of 2021. A heavily indebted club can no longer afford an exceptional player and many world-class footballers. Messi then moved to PSG in France.
At the World Cup in Qatar Messi led Argentina to victory with his opener in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Mexico. And his chances of reaching the knockout stages in his fifth and final world championship and keeping the title dream alive.
