The USA Basketball Association has named several superstars to its preliminary squad for the Paris Olympics. LeBron James and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns are among the initial 41 nominees.
The squad will be reduced to twelve players before the start of the Summer Games on July 26. The team is coached by Warriors coach Steve Kerr, assisted by Tyronn Lue (LA Clippers) and Erik Spoelstra (Miami Heat).
America wants to go to the Olympics with many “sports superstars”.
“The United States has incredible basketball talent, and I'm thrilled that so many of the sport's superstars have expressed interest in representing our country at the 2024 Summer Olympics,” said Grant Hill, the association's executive director.
