sSamsung has introduced successors to the popular mid-range smartphones A34 and A54. The new devices are called A35 and A55 and are quite large with 6.6-inch Super AMOLED displays (up to 120Hz refresh rate).
Samsung announced that the A55 and A35 are the first mid-range phones from the manufacturer equipped with the Knox security platform. This was previously reserved for the manufacturer's upper tier devices.
Both smartphones have a glass back, but only the A55 has an aluminum frame, while the A35 has a plastic frame. However, the cases of both devices are rated as waterproof according to the IP67 protection class and both phones have a 5,000 mAh battery that can be charged at up to 25W.
The camera and processor are different
Unnamed octa-core processors power both smartphones: in the A55, the chip runs at up to 2.75 GHz up from the A35 at 2.4 GHz.
There are also differences between models when it comes to the camera system. The A55's ultra-wide-angle camera has a higher resolution (12MP) than the A35 (8MP). Samsung specifies a 50-megapixel resolution for the main camera with optical image stabilization (f 1.8).
Five years of security updates
With Android 14 operating system, the new smartphones should be available immediately: A35 at 379 euros (6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage) and A55 at 479 euros (8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage). Samsung promises four years of Android and five years of security updates for the phones.
