The World Esports Federation will host the first South American Esports Championship in parallel with the 2022 South American Games on 2 and 3 October 2022 in Asuncion, Paraguay.

In preparation for its major esports event, the GEF is hosting the GEF Festival – a dynamic celebration of esports culture and the revitalization of community esports – at the South American Youth Games in Rosario, Argentina, from April 28 to May 8, 2022.

Hosting the South American Esports Championships and the GEF Youth Games Festival in South America are tangible results of the strategic partnership between GEF and ODESUR announced in June 2020, supported by the PanAm Esports Development Consortium formed by the Global Environment Facility in 2021.
