Ukrainian tax investigators found dozens of bundles of cash in the car of a financial accountant. She works for a company that also supplies the Ukrainian military. The woman is said to have transported black money. The tax service is investigating money laundering and tax evasion.
Ukrainian investigators of the Anti-Economic Crimes Department have discovered more than €4.7 million in black money in the trunk of a company accountant's car. “The woman was unable to explain where the money came from,” the Kyiv region's investigation agency said. Investigators showed photos of an open trunk with bundles of cash piled up.
This is the company that delivered food to the Ukrainian army worth over €320 million in 2022 and 2023 alone. The tax burden was reduced by a fictitious loan.
A particularly high level of money laundering and tax evasion is being investigated. According to investigators, they also searched the group's business headquarters and the suspects' apartments. Documents were confiscated. Those involved face up to eight years in prison.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for nearly two and a half years and is receiving massive financial support from Western countries.
