Bundesliga – Ilmitzer is appointed head coach for the final stage of the season at Austria Vienna

As a player, Figleitner was a big name, especially at Seewinkel, where he was particularly active at Illmitz and also at Mönchhof. He also started as a coach at his parent club before continuing his career at Admira Academy. He eventually moved from the Young Violets to Austrian cooperation club SV Stripfing as head coach, before Wegleitner was appointed to Austria Pro in January. Since then, he has been active there as an 'assistant' to Wimmer, who he will now inherit until the end of the season.

Austria still has one match scheduled in the qualifying group (on Saturday in Plau Weiss Linz), before the European Cup play-off is followed by a duel against Wydad Casablanca. If the current standings in the table remain, Austria will have to play in Wolfsburg on May 21 because they lost the top spot in the qualifying group to Wydad Casablanca after their last 4-0 defeat in a head-to-head duel, and therefore no longer have home advantage. The winner of this match will then face the fifth-placed team in the tournament group on May 24-28 to play the final international ticket.

Due to recent poor results, the Violet team fired its former coach. It's always difficult to let go of a coach, especially with Michy Wimmer because we had a good relationship and his personality is absolutely first class. We wish him all the best in his future.”

In turn, Christian Figleitner said during Austria's statement: “Our full focus is on preparing ourselves as best as possible for the next match in Linz. We do not have a lot of time, and we are looking forward and will do everything in our power to play the next two matches in a positive way.
