Puntigamer Sturm Graz prematurely extended the contract with successful coach Christian Elzer by one year until 2025. The runner-up announced Thursday. In addition to Ilzer, the entire coaching staff around Uwe Hölzl and Dominik Deutschl (both co-coaches), Marco Angeler (fitness and condition) and Paul Pajduch (chief scout) have been given a new contract until 2025.
It’s something “very nice when you feel and see that our way of working and our commitment is recognized and valued,” Ilzer said. Sports chief Andreas Scheker was also satisfied. The sporting director said that the signed contract extension is “an absolute confirmation of the path we have taken together”.
Ilzer is “one of the building blocks” of the fact that the Styrians have developed as well as the club. “Our entire coaching staff has done an excellent job from day one in Graz and put a lot of time, heart and soul into the day-to-day work with the team.”
After 16 laps, Sturm entered the winter break in second place, six points behind Salzburg. Progress on the third LASK is also six points. In the group stage of the Europa League, Ilzer’s team was eliminated in fourth place with a historic record of eight points. Recently, there have been rumors of interest in Ilzer from the Bundesliga.
