sSwedish-Finnish group Stora Enso Wood Products GmbH reported sales of around €424 million – an increase of 24 percent. The Ybbs site plays a special role for the group.
Stora Enso Wood Products GmbH, which, in addition to its site in Ybbs, also operates a site in Brand in Waldviertel, recorded positive figures for the fiscal year 2022. According to the business press service of Lower Austria, the company achieved sales of around 474 million euros. Compared to fiscal year 2021, an increase of more than 24 percent.
In addition to the two sites in Lower Austria, the Finnish-Swedish group also operates a third plant in Austria, the Bad St. Leonhard plant in Carinthia.
The Ybbs plant is the most productive
However, the Ybbs plant is the most productive. The annual production capacity is 700,000 cubic meters of sawn timber, 450,000 cubic meters of treated timber and 110,000 cubic meters of cross-laminated timber (CLT). Last year, the group also made a significant commitment to the Ybbs site and announced an investment of at least nine million euros in an automated CLT coating system, which enables the application of high-quality water-based coatings to around 500,000 square meters of CLT walls and floors.
Construction of the new facility has already begun. The world’s largest coating plant to date is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2023 at the latest. In addition, the group also plans to expand its corporate headquarters.
