The Vienna-based company launched its first fund – Calm Storm 1 – in 2020 with a size of €20 million and invests in the pre-seed and seed stages. The fund has supported 53 startups so far and plans to fund seven more. The new fund is then scheduled to start investing in early 2023. Calm/Storm’s focus is on digital health startups in Europe and North America.
Calm/Storm Ventures has a particular interest in areas that are often considered taboo, including sexual health, infertility, LGBTQ+, and mental health. In 2022, the venture capital firm made a total of 29 investments in HealthTech. Calm/Storm-backed startups include diabetes health platform Second Nature, hormone testing startup Innes, and LGBTQ+ sexual health startup for fender.
