Japan’s Koji Yakusho was honored as the best actor for his role in Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days. Yoji Sakamoto was honored with the Best Screenplay Award for “The Monster” by Hirokazu Koreda.
Palme d’Or into French
French director Justine Tritt was the third woman to win the Palme d’Or for her film Anatomy of a Case. German actress Sandra Holler plays a woman suspected of killing her husband. “It’s the most intimate film I’ve ever made,” Tritt said at the awards ceremony in Cannes on Saturday.
