Victoria Karl moved up to fifth as the cross-country skiing World Cup returned to the United States. The team sprint Olympic champion entered a top-six runner-up final in Minneapolis for only the third time in his career, but was not initially there. Joanna Sandling and Lynn Swann claimed Sweden's sixth doubles win.
The state of Minnesota, where the race was held in the US for the first time in 23 years, was taken care of by Coletta Rytzek (8th), Lena Keck (14th), Laura Kimmler (17th) and Anna-Maria Dietze (18th). Free technology for a strong German team result. Katharina Hennig, who won Olympic gold in the team sprint with Carl in 2022, just missed the top 30 quarter-finals, finishing 31st in the preliminaries.
From a German perspective, only Anion Sosau (30th) survived the prologue among men. World Cup record holder Johannes Husflot Clabo celebrated his 77th career win, the Norwegian ahead of Italian Federico Pellegrino and Havard Sols Dagpol (Norway).
In January 2001, the World Cup was stopped in the United States. Soldier Hollow hosted the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, which also hosted the cross-country skiing and biathlon events.
