The satirical musical “Spamalot”, based on the feature film “The Knights of the Coconut”, directed by Werner Sobotka, breaks all records – every performance is sold out from the beginning and always ends with a standing ovation. The actors, especially the wonderful Uwe Kruger as King Arthur, inspire the audience with their acting and singing. However, the team had to perform the last few performances without Anne Mandrella as the “Fairy of the Lake” because she fell ill shortly after.
A frantic search was made for a replacement – and finally, through the intervention of the incoming artistic director of the Baden Theater, Andreas Gergen, the lovely Dutchwoman Femke Soitinga, who was currently on a camping holiday in her homeland, was found. She immediately agreed without hesitation, as she had last played the fairy at the open games in Tecklenburg six years earlier.
Femke Soetenga celebrated her Baden debut on Sunday and also took part in the additional show (also sold out) on Tuesday – and how! She played, sang and was part of the band as if she had been there from the beginning. The audience applauded her loudly and cheered her on. The Dutchwoman, who lives in Hamburg, will also appear in the final show on Sunday 25 August.
However, Femke Soetenga cannot take over the (also sold out) concerts on 27 and 28 August at the City Theatre. Here Anna Overbeck takes over the role of Anne Mandrela.
