CITY OF CATERPILLAR returns with its first new album in 20 years, “Mystic Sisters,” on September 30th at Relapse Records!
“Mystic Sisters” was primarily tracked and produced by the same band at Montrose Recording in Richmond, then merged and mastered by Jack Shirley (DEAFHEAVEN, BOSSE-DE-NAGE).
When guitarist/singer Brandon Evans, bassist Jeff Kane, drummer Ryan Parrish, and bassist/singer Kevin Longendyk made their self-titled debut in 2002, their emotional, crazy and cinematic music was at the forefront of the burgeoning Screamo movement. Together with bands like PG.99 (of which they share members), MAJORITY RULE, PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS and more, they helped develop a musical style that took hardcore into a new choppy territory.
After years of living in other parts of the country and playing for other teams – including DARKEST HOUR, MALADY and GHASTLY CITY SLEEP – the much-anticipated CITY OF CATERPILLAR meeting turned into writing sessions. The score for “Mystic Sisters,” the album that relives the magic of the past while taking the band’s music into exciting new territory! Embodying the experimental side of CITY OF CATERPILLAR, the winding and atmospheric title track features some violin noise from fellow bandmate S. A hardcore swagger.
