Cloudflare speeds up millions of websites automatically and for free | newsletter

Cloudflare, Inc. announced. (NYSE: NET), the security, performance, and reliability company that helps build a better internet, today is the first to implement broadband server support for Early Hints, a new internet standard that can help speed up the internet. Increase websites on its network by 30% or more for free. By working with popular browsers, Cloudflare saves internet users time and creates faster and smoother experiences for businesses and their users.

“Everyone should have access to the fastest and most reliable internet, and we built our global network to deliver just that,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “Now we’re going a step further and working with leading browsers like Google Chrome to speed up millions of your favorite websites and apps for free.”

When you visit a website today, browsers can’t load it for you until you receive instructions from a server about all the different items, like images and text, that should be displayed. Cloudflare now works directly with browsers to save you extra steps and load time for websites. Cloudflare will give browsers an early warning so they can start loading important website elements before the server has finished processing the page. This shortens the time between entering a website’s URL and the time that website finishes loading. Additionally, the combination of the size and speed of its global network and the use of machine learning means that Cloudflare is able to do this without the server requiring additional action.

“Business owners know the importance of first impressions. Shopify ownership data shows that if a store improves the first page speed of a shopper’s experience by 10%, it increases conversion by 7%,” said Colin Bendell, Director of Performance Engineering at Shopify. “We see great promise in early advice as another tool to improve performance and experience for all merchants and customers.
