You can meet established artists such as Mahmoud Asrar (Batman vs. Robin, X-Men) and Michael Hacker (Häcksler, El Herpez) as well as over 60 newcomers who can be found in Artist Alley.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the comic character Donald Duck, there is a special focus on Disney this year. As part of the Disney special, Henrike Jurhuis, Ulrich Schröder and Tim Artz, who have been drawing Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and their companions on paper for years, are guests.
In addition to the illustrators of Disney classics, creators of modern graphic novels are also represented. For example, Helena Baumeister, whose work “Oh Cupid” tells about the different dates of the protagonist, who tries online dating during the pandemic, was invited. Their appointments were noticed by two curious blackbirds.
Special Star Wars with costume club and battle show
Another focus for Vienna Comix is the sci-fi franchise Star Wars. The guests are the Austrian and Slovakian fan costume clubs of the “501st Legion Garrison”. To be part of the association, members must have highly accurate costumes from the Star Wars universe, some of which can now be seen in the comic gallery.
Star Wars can be experienced not only through detailed costumes, but also through exhibition battles. Two Lightsaber battle shows give fans an action-packed addition to Vienna Comix's programming on Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 1pm.
Games and delicious cuisine at KesselHaus
The exhibition space at this year's trade show has expanded with the addition of KesselHaus for the first time. In addition to the theater program, you can also explore the world of games, whether digital or analogue. Indie video games as well as board and card games are featured here, which can be experienced live. KesselHaus also caters to trade show guests with food trucks and South Korean cuisine.
