Cora and Nina Horvath go to America

Cora and Nina Horvath go to America

In a few days, Nina and Cora Horvath’s adventure in America will begin: the twin sisters are now playing on scholarships in the American College Basketball League. “I think one of everyone’s childhood dreams is to go to America,” says Cora Horvath.

For the first time in their lives, Cora and Nina go separately to pursue their dream of becoming a basketball pro: Cora goes to Dallas (Texas), her sister Nina, who is a minute younger, to North Carolina. The fact that they won’t see each other in the near future doesn’t bother the two sisters. “I think it’s time for us to part ways. We’ve been together forever for 19 years,” says Nina Horvath.

“We’d better go our separate ways now.”

“Because we play at the same level, it’s better for us to go our separate ways now and then develop ourselves further without the other,” Cora Horvath said. Not only the distance between the two sisters, but also the family in Burgenland is a lot bigger now. Cora and Nina were not afraid of that. “I think we’re used to it by now. We’ve owned it for three years now,” says Nina Horvath.

Twin sisters play for different national teams

Both basketball players are active in the national team, but not in the same team. Both have Austrian and German citizenships, as the mother is German by birth. “Over time, I decided to join the Austrian national team and Nina the German national team,” explains Cora Horvath.

Not playing together for the same national team has advantages for twin sisters. “I think it’s good that Cora played for Austria and I played for Germany. That’s why we weren’t always together. We could be apart in the summer and I think that’s good for us,” says Nina Horvath.

Cora and Nina Horvath want to continue playing for their respective national teams despite moving to the United States. “In the summer you have college off, and by then the season is over. I will come to Germany and play for the German national team,” says Nina Horvath. The twin sisters have a clear plan on and off the basketball court. “Continue to grow, have fun, do what I love. Then you can earn money with basketball. And studying at the same time,” says Nina Horvath.
