Cross-country skier Teresa Stadeloper achieved the next best result in the Tour de Ski in Val di Fiemme. The Salzburg woman finished sixth in the over 10km classic start race on Monday. This puts her in eighth place overall before the last day.
The victory went to the leader of the Russian tour, Natalia Nebragiwa. It follows the traditional mountain race on the Alpe Cermis on Tuesday.
In the fifth stage, Stadlober remained in the leading group of six players for a long time and only regressed slightly in the final stage. In the end she was 14.3 seconds behind Nebragywa, who extended her overall difference to just over a minute. “To be in the top six again is great, of course, but it was a really tough race,” Stadlober explained.
Stadlober crafts places
Champion Jessica Diggins didn’t get past 13th, she’s already made 1:42 in the Tour standings for sixth. For Stadlober, who held four places with her third best result, it was 1:59 behind Neprjajewa. “Maybe there is still something possible in the attack,” Stadlober said. “Tomorrow I have to attack again and I will definitely do my best.” Co-candidate Frida Karlsson, who was greatly delayed by a penalty in Oberstdorf, is no longer running.
