Cup duel in Waldviertel: Vienna Women play against SV Horn
The second round of the ÖFB Vienna Women's Cup starts next Wednesday. In the play-off match they meet second division team SV Hoorn. The match starts at 7pm on Side Court III of the Waldviertel Arena (Hopfengartenstrasse 7-11) in Hoorn.
The game was originally postponed due to severe storms. Now the Vienna women travel to Hoorn to secure their place in the next round. Head coach Mark Dobronig can once again rely on all the players from the Under-20 squad, but he still has to let go of some key players. Pfanner, Nutter, Fuchs, Wasser and Amucci are still out due to injuries.
The tailwind of the league
After beating visitors FC Bergheim 2-0, Vienna Women recently celebrated an important success in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga. On home soil, Doblinger Women kept a clean sheet against Salzburg Women and picked up three valuable points. Despite the injuries of many players, the team returned to success after a faltering start to the season and now occupies sixth place in the standings with eight points.
In the cup competition, Vienna Women were classified for the second round due to their participation in the Champions League qualifiers.
SV Horn is in crisis
SV Horn is going through a difficult phase in the Second League. After seven matches, Lower Austria has only four points. Only in the last round did they get their first win of the season against Gerritsburg. Despite the success, Horn are in the relegation zone and have the weakest attack in the league with only three goals. They also conceded the most goals this season, with 32 goals.
Despite the preferred role, beware Coach Vienna Dobronezh Against the opponent: “After the recent increases in performance, we want to maintain our focus and constantly improve our performance. Our goal is to play our game from the beginning and focus less on the opponent. We want to move on to the next round and secure the self-confidence and momentum needed for the tasks ahead.
Vienna Women enter the match with some ambitions and want to advance to the round of the Austrian Women's Football Association Cup. The aim is to build on recent strong performances in the league.
