Then clear conditions prevailed in the fifth set, as Medvedev secured a comfortable 4-0 lead with two runs. a blow from which Eubanks never recovered.

A late bloomer, Eubanks was only the third All England Club debutant, after John McEnroe (1977) and Argentine David Nalbandian (2002), to qualify directly into the semi-finals.
