For David Nemeth, Mainz 05 chapter finally begins. After a successful year at Sturm Graz, the centre-back talent is now attacking in the Bundesliga.
“My goal is to play very clearly. I will give everything to train for that,” the 20-year-old said when he presented on Tuesday. 32 competitive appearances for Sturm underscore the challenge facing ÖFB’s talent.
In September 2020, Mainz acquired the services of Nemeth, and moved from Mattersburg to Carnival City for free. From there it was stopped in Graz after only four weeks.
“We had good conversations, at that time with Rouven Schröder (former sporting director Mainz 05, note), we didn’t see myself at the level at which I could play in the Bundesliga, and together we decided that for me the best thing was to go to Austria again for a year” Nemeth explains.
blessed? ‘well developed’
While preparing, Nemeth will present himself with greater self-confidence. Martin Schmidt is sure that the man from Eisenstadt has the equipment for operations in the German House of Lords.

“In March he was even in the extended squad of the Austrian national team,” said Mainz’s director of sport a few weeks ago. “It shows that he has developed well that year. He was one of the regulars in the first division.” “We are very happy and look forward to David, who will now return with a good feeling.”
Nemeth should get past these players
How many minutes in the end for Nemeth depends on the other ingredients. If you look at Mainz’s defensive line, the team is well equipped with six defenders.
In pre-season, coach Bo Svensson relied on a triple streak led by captains Moses Nyakate and Jeremiah Saint-Just. Veterans Stefan Bell and Alexander Hack took third, alternately, and 21-year-old Luca Killian. With Nemeth, Svensson now has another alternative.
The departure of one competitor or the other would put Nemeth in the cards. According to numerous media reports, there should be no shortage of clubs interested in Nyakat and Saint-Just.
Mind games that don’t bother nemeth. “I feel very good, the coach will decide if I play at that time. I will do my best. When the coach sees I am ready, I heard he will bring me too.”
