At least six people were killed in an Israeli attack in Lebanon yesterday, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. 13 others were injured when Israeli warplanes attacked the town of Kajfun in the mountains of Lebanon.
Kajafun is one of the few Shiite Islamic villages in the region. This is the second attack in the area this week. Israel began a ground attack on Lebanon this week.
UN official: Stop the “massacre” in the Middle East
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, expressed his concern about the Israeli attacks in Lebanon. According to Grandi, attacks on medical facilities and civilian infrastructure in Lebanon violate international humanitarian law. Bombing of homes and killing of civilians are also possible violations.
Grande called on all parties to the conflict and those with influence to end “the massacre that is taking place today in both Gaza and Lebanon.”
Iran temporarily closed its airspace
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, Iran briefly imposed a nationwide ban on flights in the country. According to the authorities, the flight ban was lifted in the evening.
Observers fear that the latest decision was taken due to an imminent Israeli counterattack.
Officially, “operational limitations” were cited as the reason. No further details were given.
