England will get to their knees before every European Championship match as a sign against racism.
“Negative feedback” will be ignored, team boss Gareth Southgate says at a media meeting on Saturday. In a friendly match against Austria in Middlesbrough last Wednesday, boos were heard from the stands as both teams knelt before kick-off.
According to Southgate, the team decided to continue using the gesture against unequal treatment. “The most important thing for our players is that we are in complete agreement. We feel obligated to help each other, to help the team,” the 50-year-old said.
England will take the final pre-final test against Romania in Middlesbrough on Sunday.
