Diesel leaking from car in underground parking lot

At 6:08 p.m., the Waidhofen/Thaya volunteer fire department was alerted to a pollution incident in downtown Waidhofen. The cause: a leak of a resource in an underground parking lot in Raiffeisen Park.

Shortly after driving away from his parking space in the underground car park, the driver of the Audi noticed that fluid was leaking from the engine compartment and had already driven a short distance in the underground car park. He stopped his car and was able to solve the problem in cooperation with the ÖAMTC breakdown service, which was called in to help. To remove the leaking diesel, the driver called the fire department's emergency number and requested support from the Waidhofen/Thaya fire department.

Shortly after the alarm was raised, 12 members of the city's fire department were dispatched to the nearby underground parking lot. An oil-binding agent was immediately applied to the spilled fuel, thus binding the diesel. The binder was then added again and the road surface was cleaned.

The operation ended at 6:33 p.m.

Forces used:
The Waidhofen/Thaya Volunteer Fire Department is equipped with a command vehicle, a supply vehicle, an auxiliary vehicle and 12 members.
