Christian Winkelhofer, Managing Director of New Technologies at Accenture Austria, sees “a powerful driver of the economy and society” in the fusion of the digital and physical worlds.
This year’s global consulting firm is dedicated to “Technical visionThe annual outlook to identify future technologies, developments, and management, economic and community potentials derived from them.
“When the physical and digital worlds converge in a new reality, we face great challenges,” Winkelhofer explains, formulating his recommendation for the underlying strategic direction: “We need strategies to accompany integration. Artificial intelligence requires proper architecture and integration. We must and can shape the future human-machine interaction today.”
We need strategies to accompany the merger and we need to shape the interaction between man and machine.
To do this, however, must create transparency and build trust, which can be used intelligently as a competitive advantage, Winkelhofer continued. Specifically, according to the Technology Vision 2023, the following four major technology trends point in the direction it has set:
- 1. A new era of artificial intelligence. Austrian companies have recognized this, with 99 percent considering AI among the most important areas of innovation and technology for their long-term vision and strategy. In a global comparison, 93 percent do. As far as robotics is concerned, an area that makes sense to merge with AI, only a third of domestic managers see it that way, compared to half worldwide.
- 2. Electronic identity, digital identity. Digital identities will exist for both people and things. Identification by phone number or email will not be sufficient in the future, you will need a digital ID, as Austria is leading the way in implementing electronic identifiers for people in the European Union.
- 3. Data and transparency. When dealing with exponentially increasing volumes of data, the need for transparency is also growing. This only creates confidence in using the opportunities that arise from new data systems.
- 4. Acceleration of knowledge. Accenture even sees a “revolution in the interaction of science and technology” with artificial intelligence. Innovation cycles could already be greatly accelerated during a pandemic.
