The Disney+ streaming service secured exclusive rights to collaborate with Coleen Rooney on a documentary about the lawsuit that became “Wagatha Christie.” The Palestinian News Agency reported today, quoting the company. A three-part documentary series has been made to follow the altercation between the wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney and Rebecca Vardy, the wife of professional footballer James Vardy. According to unconfirmed information from the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, it is a deal worth several million pounds.
The two women had argued in court earlier this spring over whether Rooney had the right to publicly credit Vardy as the source of leaks about her private life to The Sun. Rooney previously revealed that she set a trap for Vardy by blocking anyone else on her Instagram account and posting several fake news stories about her personal life, all of which made their way to The Sun.
Because of the action, reminiscent of crime novels, the term “Wagatha Christie” was coined, a new term from the acronym WAG, which stands for “wives and girlfriends” (in German one says a female player), and the name of the crime novels author Agatha Christie. Rooney, against whom Vardy sued for defamation, won the case.
