According to local authorities, a shopping mall was attacked in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk. At least two people were killed and seven others were injured, the Russian news agency TASS reported, citing emergency services.
Video footage released by Russia's RIA Novosti news agency showed thick clouds of smoke rising from a completely engulfed building. The head of the Russian-annexed Donetsk region, Denis Pushilin, wrote on his Telegram channel that the fire at the Galaktika shopping mall was the result of an attack by Ukrainian armed forces.
An area of more than 10,000 square meters is on fire. A hospital has also been hit. According to local authorities, the area where the shopping center is located was the target of artillery shelling by the Ukrainian army.
The information cannot be independently verified. Just a week ago, according to authorities, at least a dozen people were killed and 44 injured in a Russian missile attack on a supermarket in the town of Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region.
