Some 750 guests in the Grand Hall of the Elbe Philharmonic Orchestra were astonished, and millions of television viewers couldn’t quite believe their ears: the background noise It caused a huge surprise. Now it seems clear who is behind the prank: YouTuber Daniel Jarvis. This is what was reported by the English newspaper “The Sun”.
The Briton posted a video clip on the X platform (formerly Twitter) in which he wanted to prove his crime. Jarvis films himself watching the drawing in front of the television. “European Championship 2024, the draw. We will make fun of it,” he says.
He then dials a number on his cell phone, and soon afterward moaning sounds can be heard in Hamburg. Jarvis laughs and says, “We did it!”
There was initially no reaction to the incident from UEFA, which was responsible for conducting the draw, and UEFA merely confirmed these votes.
Marchetti is upset
Lottery director Giorgio Marchetti reacted nervously during the event. “There are some sounds here…” he said. National coach Julian Nagelsmann and ‘Lusvi’ Brian Laudrup smiled rather broadly.
“There was something disturbing, and you couldn’t really identify it,” ear witness Rudi Fuller told Sport1. The German Football Association’s sporting director added that he had also heard it was about “the notorious English humour. The English are a little different from the rest of the world.”
Jarvis will be a “repeat offender”: he has already disrupted the live broadcast of the FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolves (0-1) in January in a similar way on the BBC.
