Wreckage found Thursday during the search for Titan’s lost submersible is the sub’s “landing frame” and rear cover.
A ship salvage expert is certain that the debris field discovered in the search for Titan is from the missing submarine. In conversations with BBC and Sky News presenters on Thursday, David Mearns referred to comments made by the head of the Explorers Club in a WhatsApp group. The explorers are united in the Society, as are two Titan members.
The so-called landing frame and aft cover of the submarine can be seen, Mearns said. At first there was no independent confirmation of this. The US Coast Guard had announced earlier that a submarine encountered a debris field in the area near the wreckage of the “Titanic”. Experts are now evaluating the information, and the authority tweeted without giving any additional information.
The submarine has been missing since Sunday morning (local time). The Titanic, with five people on board, was on its way to the wreck of the Titanic, which sank in 1912 at a depth of about 3,800 metres. (APA/red.)
