Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer responded to the criticism leveled at him by the fans during and after the annual general meeting of the record champions on Thursday.
Hainer said in an interview with tz.
At the AGM, there were repeated boos from members against the president and even chants of “Heiner out”. Fans criticized Bayern’s handling of the Qatar issue. There was also a heated discussion between FCB management and a few speakers.
“The tone had to be right, and that wasn’t always the case that evening,” Hainer explained. “We like to sit at the table with our members – constructive and fact-based exchange should be the goal of both sides.”
Also the spontaneous suggestion from some fans about the initiator Michael Ott, Termination of the sponsorship contract with Qatar Airways, which is allegedly awarded 20 million euros, as soon as possible, employers banned. “We explained it clearly and justified it at this event: there was no legal basis, and the request was not admissible in this way. The regional court decided and made it clear in advance; the atmosphere was turbulent that evening,” Hainer explained.
A similar request had already been rejected a few hours earlier by the 13th civil chamber of the Munich First District Court.
However, he said, “The FC Bayern board has not yet largely decided whether to extend the sponsorship with Qatar Airways. You can expect FC Bayern to honor an ongoing contract from a trusted partner.” He stressed that the club will take the suggestions and ideas of its members seriously and incorporate them into its considerations.
